Robust Dynamic Control of Constant-Current-Source-Based Dual-Active-Bridge DC/DC Converter Used for Off-Board EV Charging

Due to the high power density, inherent zero-voltage-switching (ZVS), and voltage-conversation ratio, current source-based isolated dual-active-bridge DAB–DC/DC converters are extensively used for charging EVs under constant-current mode. However, fast dynamic response of an output is a crucial requirement DC/DC operating as source. This study proposes controller (FCC) tracking desired various input/output parameter disturbances/variations. The proposed control strategy can ensure transient with negligible overshoot/undershoot during start-up when there variations in load or input voltage. Furthermore, behavior against change reference value has also been improved. A constant-current-based converter modeled simulated MATLAB/Simulink software scaled-down 300 W lab prototype designed TMS320F28335 DSP Texas Instruments. To verify effectiveness controller, different test cases, such load, voltage, current, considered. Moreover, these current-control compared conventional proportional–integral (PI) model-based phase-shift (MBPS), feed-forward (LCFF). Both experimental simulation results have validated strategy.
